Gentiana scabra var. buergeri / Rindou

A variable species in habit, flower size and colour G.s. var. buergeri has reddish-brown flushed stems, leaf margins papillose and blue flowers. Var. saxatilis, syn. G. kirishimo-rindo has prostrate stems and large blue flowers (both Japan only). Var. bungeana and fortunei have white-spotted flowers, the former also with broadly ovate leaves.
